Harvest Pushes On: Southwest Saskatchewan Leads the Way
As fall deepens across the prairies, our farmers keep the combines rolling. Saskatchewan's harvest reached 82 per cent completion in the week ending October 5, and the southwest and west-central regions—that's us—are already at 92 per cent done.
It's been a dry week, with little rain to slow things down. Our farmers have been making the most of it, working hard to bring in the crop before the weather turns.
The wheat coming in this year is showing strong protein levels too—Saskatchewan CWAD is averaging 13.3 per cent protein, and Western Canada's CWRS is hitting 14.0 per cent. Good quality grain for a good year's work.
It's a reminder of what harvest season really means here: long days, steady hands, and the knowledge that when you're done, you've fed more than just your own table.
